Early Bird

Lou's maternal grandfather, George Boyd, was a pioneer aviator, soloing in 1911. At one point he had partnered with Glenn Curtis to build airplanes, forming the Curtis/Boyd Company in the days before the Curtis/Wright Company. Unfortunately Grandpa didn't think airplanes were much of a business proposition and left to work for General Motors, leaving behind what could have been a classic slogan "nothing flies like a Boyd".
